The Beacon Welcome Center, at 1146 Wolcott Avenue, will be open to the public in December each week:

11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Visitors and local residents may find information about holiday events, restaurants, shopping, art shows and more by stopping by to talk to the Welcome Center's volunteers. Beacon maps, holiday flyers, Dutchess County tourism guides and more are also available.

The city administrator has posted new video explaining how our tax dollars are put to use. The video features each department head explaining the roles of city staff and services provided.
There is also a revised video recording of the budget discussion at the November 1, 2010 city council meeting.

The City of Beacon city council will hold a special meeting in order to enter into executive session regarding personnel and emergency services issues.
This special meeting is to be held at 6:00 pm - immediately prior to the regularly scheduled workshop of November 22, 2010.

On Wednesday, October 20, 2010, representatives from Insurance Services Office, Inc. will be conducting flow tests on various hydrants throughout the City of Beacon. This will occur between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. As a result, discolored water may be experienced in these areas. Although the water is still safe for use, it is recommended that residents refrain from doing laundry during this time until the water runs clear. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the Water Department at 845-831-3136.
Bagged leaves will be picked up beginning Monday, October 25, 2010 on your normally scheduled garbage day. Collection will continue until the first snowfall.

All open water/sewer balances from October 2009 through July 2010 will be levied onto the 2011 tax bills if not satisfied prior to October 31. Payments made after 10/15/2010 must be in cash, money order or in certified funds. Personal checks postmarked after the 15th will be returned.
Since October 31 falls on a Sunday, the City will accept and apply each payment received in the drop prior to our arrival Monday, November 1. We encourage you to call (845)838-5000 for updated balances and/or discrepancies at your earliest possible convenience.
Please note: As of November 1, the payments at the window will be limted to the current (October 10) invoice only.
On Monday, September 27 at 6:00pm the city council will hold a special meeting to review the fire study recently completed by MMA Consulting. This special meeting will be held immediately prior to the scheduled city council workshop.
