Centennial Committee Meeting

On April 19 at 7 p.m. the Beacon Centennial Committee will meet to discuss the planning efforts for the city's upcoming hundredth-year anniversary celebration. The meeting will be held at the Memorial Building (413 Main Street) and is open to anyone who wishes to attend.

Main Street/Waterfront Linkage Committee Meeting

On Tuesday, March 27 at 7 p.m., the Main Street/Waterfront Linkage Committee will meet at the Memorial Building (413 Main Street) to discuss ideas relating to development in the City of Beacon. Consultant Joel Russell will be on hand as well. The public is welcome to attend.

Tax Help

Need help prepring your tax return? AARP Tax-Aide is offering free help in Beacon through April 15. The free, volunteer-run tax preparation service is available to older taxpayers and to any taxpayer with limited income.

AARP Tax-Aide counselors will be at two sites in Beacon:

Howland Public Library, 313 Main Street
     • Mondays :: 10am to 1pm
     • Thursdays :: 10am to 1pm

Southern Dutchess Community Action Agency, 554 Main Street
     •  Tuesdays :: 10am to 1pm
     •  Wednesdays :: 3;30pm to  5:30pm

2012 Free Dump Program for City Property Owners

 

ATTENTION
CITY OF BEACON PROPERTY OWNERS
 
2012 Free use of the Transfer Station
Tuesday, May 15th until Saturday, September 29th 
 
Each taxpayer whose taxes are paid in full
can dump up to 250 lbs. per tax parcel
 
Owners should be present and provide valid ID. 
If the owner cannot be there or hires a contractor, a permission form must be filled out and signed by the owner and submitted at the time of drop-off.

BVAC Fundraiser

This brunch is being graciously hosted by the Coris Family at the Dutchess Manor. Everything you could want for brunch - including carving stations - will be there.

100% of the proceeds go to help BVAC. In particularly this year, we are trying to raise funds for a new ambulance to continue to meet the growing needs of the community we serve and we need your support.

City of Beacon Residents Bagged leaves will be picked up beginning Monday, April 2nd through Friday, April 27th LEAVES MUST BE PLACED IN BIODEGRADABLE BAGS PLASTIC BAGS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED Bags can be taken to the Transfer Station Free of Charge Only bagged leaves will be picked up – 4/2 to 4/6 North side of Mountain 4/9 to 4/13 South side of Mountain 4/16 to 4/20 South side of Main 4/23 to 4/27 North side of Main After this time frame, NO BAGS WILL BE PICKED UP CURBSIDE UNTIL THE FALL LEAF PROGRAM STARTS Any bagged leaves with dirt, rocks, or garbage mixed in will not be picked up! First Greenway Trail Committee Meeting

Mayor Casale is assembling an ad-hoc Greenway Trail committee to assist with the process of developing the trail along Fishkill Creek.

The City of Beacon is proud to announce the swearing in of our new Police Chief, Douglas Solomon, on Tuesday night, February 21, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. We invite the community as well as fellow chiefs and enforcement officers from other local municipalities to join us to welcome our new Chief.
