In cases of emergency, the City of Beacon is well-prepared.
The city's organized fire department dates back to 1886 and has been protecting the residents and property of Beacon since the city's establishment in 1913. Operating out of three fire houses, the combined volunteer and paid fire department provides fire and rescue services with a staff of roughly 60 volunteer firefighters, 13 full-time paid firefighters, and 1 full-time & 2 part-time support personnel. The department responds to around 1,750 runs a year, while maintaining the county's fastest response time.
The City of Beacon Police Department prides itself on its community policing, relying on cooperation with citizens based on trust and emphasizing the prevention as well as the suppression of crime. A full-time bicycle patrol officer is the latest addition in these ongoing efforts.
The Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corps is responsible for providing ambulance service to the residents of the city and works in cooperation with the Fire Department and Alamo EMS.
