The Arts and Cultural Development Committee (Beacon CityArts) will hold their next meeting on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 7:30 pm at the Beacon Institute headquarters at 199 Main Street.
The second half of the agenda is dedicated to a public discussion on what types of public art might best reflect Beacon to both visitors and residents. The public is encouraged to attend and to bring hard copy images of examples of public art (mural, sculpture, installation, video, architectural, water) they'd like to see here. All images will be laid out so that everyone can use these pics to have a conversation on what public art can and might mean in Beacon. This is a chance to introduce others to your favorite type of public art and to participate in the discussion while the city council workshops language for a new public art ordinance for the city!
The committee is charged with arts and cultural development for the City of Beacon. Meetings are open to the general public; after the agenda items are covered there is an opportunity for public comment and participation. Come kibbitz!
