Cpl. William Tallman, 26, was killed during the month of August, 1944, in France.  He was the 29 Beacon resident killed in the war. Cpl Tallman was a member of the Engineers and had been in service for three years and had been overseas for one month.  His parents Mr.and Mrs. William D. Tallman of 55 So. Chestnut Street were notified by telegram.  William was a only child and attended Beacon schools.
