Roscoe Vaughn Jr. was killed in the North African
area, the first Beacon Afro-American to be killed in
action.  The War Department said Prc Vaughn was
wounded in action and died on February 25, 1944.
Roscoe was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe
Vaughn Sr., 86 North Avenue.
