Private Michael Groza was a paratrooper in an Army Airborne Division and was stationed for 20 months during the war in Greenland.  He was sent to Germany, where he was killed at Zahlbach on  June 13, 1945.

Michael was born and raised in Beacon, New York, being the son of Irene and Peter Groza.  He had a twin sister, Rose and tow other sisters Anne and Mary; also a brother Earl, [Sonny].

Mike attended Saint Joachim's Parochial School and Beacon High. Before going into the service he was employed at Knowlton and Sons, a hat manufacturing shop.  He was a paratrooper attached to the 101st Airborne "Screaming Eagle Division".
