as a gunner aboard a merchant
ship, was fatally wounded in December, 1943, when
German planes attacked shipping in Port of Bari, Italy.
He died of his wounds a few days after the bombing.
Seaman Roberts, native of Cold Spring, is survived

who entered the Waves soon after Roberts' death.
