John F. Mignault was officially listed as dead by the Navy Department on October 11, 1944.  He had previously been listed as missing for a year, since September 25, after the vessel USS LST-167 which he was serving on board was damaged by two bombs at Ruravia Island in the Pacific.

John graduated from Beacon High School and was a member of St. Joachim's Church.  He was survived by his parents, one brother, Philip Mignault of Greatneck, L.I. and several uncles and aunts.
