Dominick Phillipo, Private, was a member of Company C, 179th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division when he was killed in action on September 11, 1943 while engaging enemy forces near Persano, Italy.  Dominick's body was not recovered until May 1960, when his unmarked grave beside a small stream near the town of Serre.  His remains were transferred to Frankfort, Germany, where, with the help provided by records sent by his sister, Catherine DeRubbio of of Beacon, his identity was confirmed.  Finally, after 17years resting in an unmarked grave in a foreign land, Dominick was brought home to Beacon.
