"This is my country, I do not want to be drafted. This country is worth fighting for."

The PFC Marine has a total of 15 relatives in the armed services t avenge his death. The last letter received by Mr. and Mrs. Alfonso Ramputi, parents of Carmen Ramputi is as follows:

"Just a few lines to let you know I am feeling fine and hope to hear the same from you.  We really had a nice trip and you would not believe the ocean was so big as it is. I suppose the weather back home is getting warm. Boy! it is really hot a the dickens here.  We will be heading for home soon, ha, ha.  When we do I will be getting a 30 day furlough.  After the 30 days are over the war will be over.  I will just go back to the base to get my discharge papers. So folks, don't worry about me because I got everything all planed out. I am in a great outfit and the Japs know it. They will be quitting as soon as we hit the beach."
