The Evening Journal, Saturday June 14, 1919....

"Fredrick Garrison enlisted on June 4th, 1917, in Co. L at Newburgh, and after becoming attached to the 107th Regiment of the renowned 27th Division, he with his regiment, took part in all of the fierce engagements with which the name of his fighting aggregation of America is associated.  It was at the Argonne Forest that Garrison gave his life for his country.

On September 29th. 1918 while taking part in an action against the enemy, he was mortally wounded by a bursting shell, and died in action on the battlefield.

A grateful people will always keep in memory the heroic services of this young citizen of Beacon."
