The Evening Journal, Saturday June 14, 1919.... "In the death, in his country's service, of Francis Murphy, Beacon suffered the loss of one of its popular young men. He was 31 years old and entered the service on July 22, 1918. He was attached to the 56th Pioneer Division, and died on October 4th 1918. The whole city joins with the mother and brothers of this young soldier in lamenting the untimely death be suffered while serving in the cause of freedom.
