Teenager rescued from Fishkill Creek
BEACON -- A 17-year-old Town of Newburgh boy avoided serious
injury Monday after he experienced heart problems while swimming in
Fishkill Creek.
About 3:45 p.m., Beacon city police and fire personnel responded
to a call for a medical emergency in the rear of 480 Washington Ave.
The teen, whose name was withheld by authorities, was swimming in
the creek when he began experiencing pain from a pre-existing heart
condition. The teen was helped to the shoreline by friends, police
said.
Members of the Beacon fire department and police tactical unit
lifted the teen up a 45-foot embankment, using ropes and a
stretcher, and brought the teen to safety.
He was transported to Cornwall Hospital emergency room, where he
was treated and released. |
