Beacon waterfront projects to get $208,000 more in grants
BEACON -- Beacon will receive more grant money to spruce up the
waterfront and increase river access.
Gov. George Pataki announced Monday the city will receive
$208,000 in grant money from the Environmental Protection Fund to
stabilize the shoreline at Beacon Landing.
The money will be used to stabilize approximately 2,500 feet of
shoreline and construct a path.
Other uses for the grant money include a handicapped-accessible
boardwalk, fishing pier, granite steps down to the river, a
reconstructed bulkhead to create safe public access to the river and
tie-ups and ladders for recreational boating.
Beacon's funding is a portion of $1.7 million in Environmental
Protection Fund and federal Land and Water Conservation grants
spanning seven counties.
Scenic Hudson, which owns the Beacon Landing property, is
developing a design for the property. |
