NEW BUSINESS

Resolution No. 113 of 2005:  Approving the Memorandum of Agreement between the City of Beacon and the City of Beacon Police Benevolent Association.

City Administrator Braun read the resolution as follows:

WHEREAS, a new Memorandum of Agreement has been negotiated between the City of Beacon and the City of Beacon Police Benevolent Association for the term January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2006, now therefore, be it

RESOLVED, the City Council approves the Memorandum of Agreement between the City of Beacon and the City of Beacon Police Benevolent Association for the term January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2006 (a copy of said Memorandum of Agreement is attached to this resolution and expressly made a part hereof) and authorizes the Mayor to sign whatever documents are necessary in order to finalize the Agreement.

A motion to adopt the resolution was made by Councilmember Fasano, seconded by Councilmember Antalek.

Councilmember Way asked if this was a two year contract.  City Administrator Braun explained that it is a two year contract with a 3.5% increase each year with shift differential increases. There will now only be one place to sign for scheduled time off, a change from three locations.  They anticipate estimated savings of $50,000.  This contract is only good through the end of 2006, therefore if anticipated savings are not realized, other options can be discussed during the next negotiation period.  On roll call, all voted in favor of the motion to approve the resolution.  Motion carried 7-0.
