The Transfer Station is open for business 
Tuesday through Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The facility is closed for all holidays celebrated by the City 
which are posted at the facility and on public access Channel 22
and the News Section of this web site.

 

Items accepted at the Transfer Station include: 

household furnishings   

appliances (freon and non-freon)

construction and demolition debris 

junk mail/magazines

tires

yard waste

scrap metal  

newsprint

office paper

wood waste   

commingles (recyclables) 

office paper      

 

Items often brought to the Transfer Station 
that are not recyclable:

(these items are either considered household trash or household furnishings)

 

paperboard products (i.e. cereal boxes) 

 

plastic items (other than #1 or #2) 

 

kitchen pots, pans, baking dishes

 

Latex paint cans:  Put Speedy Dry or kitty litter in can, 
let dry
and dispose of in household garbage

 

Items not taken at the Transfer Station:

pesticides 

explosives

household hazardous waste

new or used motor oil

Curbside Trash Pick Up
Curbside trash pick up occurs weekly on your specified garbage day.  
Residents are allowed three 30 gallon cans of regular household trash weekly 
from each parcel with an occupied structure. Tickets can be purchased
for additional 30 gallon cans, for a $3.00 fee, at the Municipal Center.

Curbside Recyclable Pick Up
Recyclables are picked up every other week on your specified garbage day.  
Recyclable items picked up curbside consist of the following only:

clean, dry newsprint 

plastics (#1 and #2)

clear, green and brown glass food jars        

beverage containers

plastic food containers

cans (food, aluminum)

All trash and recyclables must be placed in containers with a lid. 
Recyclable containers must be clearly marked with an “R”. 
Newspapers must be separate from cans, glass and plastics.
 

Curbside Brush Pick Up
Residents must call 831-0932 or 838-5028 to be placed on a list for brush pick up.  
Brush can be no more than 4 inches in diameter and no longer than 6 feet in length.  
Brush should be placed near the curb and piled all one way. 
***NO BULK ITEMS ALLOWED AT CURBSIDE FOR PICK UP***

Annual Free Dump Program
The Transfer Station will hold its annual free dump program beginning in the spring and ending in the fall.  Property owners whose taxes are paid in full, do not have delinquent water bills or outstanding Transfer Station bills can bring one pick-up truck or  four car trunk loads per tax parcel to the facility.  Any property owner over the age of 65 (providing adequate identification) unable to bring items down on their own will be entitled to utility the Department of Corrections “Make a Difference” program.  Anyone else who does not have means of transportation should call the Transfer Station for phone numbers of local vendors who will remove unwanted waste.
