Office of the Mayor

The Mayor, as chief executive officer for the city governments, shall represent
the city at functions. The Mayor shall appoint, subject to Council
approval, all city employees, departments heads and administrative officers.
The Mayor shall direct and supervise the administration of all
departments, offices and agencies of the city. The Mayor's office is
located at the Municipal Building.

Office of the City Administrator...
The City Administrator is Joseph Braun

The Administrator is appointed by the Mayor and is confirmed by
the Council. The Administrator shall, as directed by the Mayor supervise
the operations of all departments and units of the city government. The
Office of the City Administrator is located at the Municipal Building.

Assessor's Office...
Phone: 838-5025
Located at the Municipal Building's Beekman St. entrance.
Hours: Monday/Wednesday/Friday 8:30-4:30, special appointments can be
arranged.
The Assessor's office maintains the City's property records through the
Dutchess County Office of Real Property. We maintain property
owners addresses, process property exemption applications, process property
sale records from deeds filed with the County and maintain the City's
annual tax roll.

Highway Department

Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00a.m. to 3:00p.m.
The Highway Department, located on 23 Creek Road, maintains City
streets, cleans out over 800 storm basins yearly and repair damaged storm
basins, maintains roadside flowers and cuts grass. We keep 50
miles of road, approximately 208 streets open so emergency vehicles can
pass in reasonable amount of time during and after snow storms.

Parks Department
We maintain all City owned parks - Memorial Park (Wilkes Street), South
Avenue Park (South Avenue), Riverfront Park (Red Flynn Drive), Flannery
Park (Green Street). Parks are open daily. We maintain three
softball fields, three baseball fields, one football field, one soccer
field, two tennis courts, three basketball courts and three
playgrounds. We mark fields for all recreation programs and flood
and maintain the ice rink when weather permits.

Sanitation Department
We supervise the pick up of three cans of garbage per tax parcel weekly
with unlimited recyclable pickups every other week. We collect bagged
leaves left curbside in the Spring and Fall. Christmas Trees are picked
up at curbside after the holiday. The City offers to chip brush left at
curbside by appointment.
Transfer Station

Hours: Tuesday - Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Our Transfer Station, located on Dennings Avenue, provides residents
with a place to dump glass clippings at no charge, and furniture,
construction and demolition debris, tires batteries and metal at a
minimal fee. City Property owners can pay by check at the Transfer
Station. Coupons are available at the Municipal Center for residents who
live, but do not own property in the City.

Building Department

Hours: Monday - Friday - 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Building Department office, located in the lower level of the
Municipal Building (Beekman Street entrance), reviews building permit
applications and plans necessary for the issuance of Building Permits
required for pool installation, additions, alterations, demolition of
existing structures, and an new construction. We perform plumbing
inspections and all inspections required during various phases of
construction; as well as multiple dwelling and apartment
inspections. Code Enforcement, carried out through our office, addresses
property violations, i.e. litter, high grass abandoned vehicles, graffiti,
etc. We also provide school inspections and post public assembly
occupancies.

Recreation Department

Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Tuesday 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Summer Hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The Recreation Department, located in the lower level of the Municipal
Building (Beekman Street entrance), provides safe and positive recreation
programs to the residents of Beacon and to increase the activities
offered, base on their needs.

Water/Sewer Department

Hours: Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
The Water and Sewer Department, located on Liberty Street, provides City
residents with safe, potable water. We maintain the reservoirs and
wells which are sources of water supply and perform periodic testing and
monitoring of water quality. We maintain the water distribution
system, - piping, values and fire hydrants. We provide adequate
water for fire protection and consumer use, and maintain quality water
throughout the system. Additionally, the Water and Sewer
Department provides unabated collection and disposal of all sanitary sewage.
The pipelines and manholes are maintained and cleaned. We also
conduct infiltration and inflow studies and make alterations to ease the
burden of high flows during heavy rain periods.
